Default Cam swap, need help

alright guys, i offically started my cam swap tonight

I figured i would start a thread so i can just put up my posts of questions all together

I have the drivers side coil packs off

i have all but one of the bolts from the passenger coil packs off...except for that last one way in the back. i can't get on it straight b/c of the big rubber hose right there. i think its for the A/C??

i've been fighting that one bolt for at least 30 minutes, and if that rubber hose wasn't there, i could probably pop that socket right on.

can i disconnect that hose? or no no no b/c its a/c or something? or spill coolant all over my engine bay

thanks guys

You're probably being blocked by the A.I.R. injection hose. Check to see that it leads to the header and disconnect it.

Maybe? But I think hes talking about the hoses going to the heater core? I have done almost 40 cam swaps on these things and that rear bolt is the #2 PIA after the radiator. If you swap in the car a bud with the right size prybar, can press on the top hose and squeez just enough pressure to get a 1/4 drive 10mm on there NEVER reinstall

yeah i followed the hose, looks like it goes to the heater core

so i don't really want to unplug it and get coolant all over everything

i guess it'll have to wait until i get someone over to help push that hose back

Look up ^^^ one post. You really should call it a night and pick up a set of gear wrenches in the morning. Sears might even have them on sale.

It is a pain in the a$$ ! Took me a good hour just to remove this one bolt !

Word of advice, once you have that one off, don't ever put it back. You don't have to. You haver other three holding the coil packs just fine.

See the above advice, if you don't go buy a gear wrench you will spend a long time screwing around with that bolt and end up with some cut up hands.

yeah but i still don't see how that will help me get the socket seated on the nut. i can't get it on there with just the socket alone

also, i diconnected my power stearing cooler line that runs into my radiator hose. i think its just oil, how do i tap off what little bit came out? Is that all take care of when i change the oil? Or is it in a separate fill spot?

get a set of ratcheting wrenches from snapon...

a stubby w/ flexible head sounds like it would be dope right now
