Comp Cams 055 springs
I was looking over comp cams web page today and found an interesting set of springs. Problem is the installed height. Needs 2.00, we have 1.850.

Rate: 340 lbs./in
You could probably get .050 out of new locks, finding the other .100 is the problem.

You'll just have to get the longer valves like they said. It would go on there, but the spring rate should be much higer. Kinda like shimming the 832's for extra pressure. If you wanted to do that, you'd have to check the pressures at those install heights, and make sure the coil bind is within a safe range.

Dart heads is using the PSI 1500 series nitrided beehive spring. It has a higher stiffness and is better suited to the application I think. They will set up like the 918's, are stiffer and only weight 68 grams. Dart is also custom making titanium retainers that weigh in at 6 grams and machined locks at 2 grams. Not sure if Dart will sell you the retainers seperately, but you could check with them directly. It looks to be a killer spring to me Not sure about your lift though, you might need to contact PSI directly.

You used to could get titanium retainers that gave you an extra .050 or so of installed height. Talk about getting the geometry outta wack though. The fulcrum height will need to be moved for sure.

I will be using the GM LS7 top end...I believe the installed height is 1.959 vs the 1.8x of the ls1/6's...this spring may be perfect for what I'm doing.

They are both 2" nominal installed height, 1.250 open, so they would require long valves on an LS1.
They are also 1.585" and 1.589" ODs. So, I don't think they will fit many LS1 spring seats.
Rates are interesting...145 and 150 on the seat and 400 and 370 on the nose. The non-LS1 question us are they replacements for solid flat tappet springs, which may be 175# on the seat and 440# on the nose. Lower spring mass in the beehives may allow the lighter spring. Installed at 1.9, the small would be around 180# on the seat.
