Default MS3 & Patriot Stage II LS6 Heads Flycutting??

Does anyone have any experience with this setup? I have a buddy that has just bought this setup and would like to know if flycutting will be necessary before we start the install.

yes it will need flycutting, the ms3 is already cutting it close on stock heads. you must flycut or talk to jason at tsp and try a different head setup

If you stay with 2.02 valves I doubt it will need flycutting. That is a stock height head. The smaller combustion chambers come by way of welded chambers.

The heads are the 59cc, with 2.02 1.57 valves.

Measure PTV and if very close, you can always run a slightly thicker gasket.

Not all motors are created equal, some have been seen from .005>.010 out of hole.

So get a dial and measure.

Also changing advance will create clearance, ie retarding your cam. Many options here, before molesting your pistons.

Those heads will definately not clear with the magic stick camshaft. You'll have to cut the pistons to get the larger valves to fit

ALWAYS check PTV clearance. A 2.02"/1.57" valve combo will have less PTV clearance than a 2.00"/1.55" combo.

thats funny because you just sold that same cam to a customer with a prc 5.3 head with same size valves and customer was told it would clear

why would a stock deck lq9 head with same size valves not clear?

I was thinking about that for the last two days with out finding the answer. but any way keep the cam only mod and when you are ready just sale it and get a mid cam with nice set of AFR or TEA or ET or PP with out the headache of knowing your gain and you cant go wrong with any one of them .for Gunnar I would like to say thank you for every thing man

Yeah told us it would more than likely clear, but to check clearance to be sure. I was hoping it wouldn't require cutting, but guess now it will.

Our LS6 style heads will be at the approximate factory deck height. When compared to heads with the same valve sizes, this will allow for more PTV clearance over heads that have been milled below deck height. This is one of the great advantages to using our LS6 style heads. Plus you can custom order your chamber sizes and heads are built with the highest quality components.

Nothing Funny about this Full-Force, I build the PRC MS3 friendly heads specific with the valves setup so it clears. With extra time working on the heads & playing with the short turn you can get the cylinder heads to still flow well with valves sunk for better p/v....

I have several camshafts just a little smaller than the Magic Stick that will clear with Gunnar's head.

I have the MS3 and Jason is gonna do a set of Dart 225cc heads with 2.065/1.60 Manley valves. I will not have to flycut the pistons. Gunnar is a great guy and has helped me in the past, but if you have a TSP cam that may have an issue with clearance, I would talk to TSP since they know what works with their cams and what doesn't.

I save the gassle and just buy the ETP's.
Forget the darts, the ET head will make more power and you damn sure wont have to worry about P/V then.
