Might as well as long as you're in there. How many miles are on it?

that's up to you, i've done 20 or so cam swaps and never had any oil pressure problems at all. ported oil pumps on stock cars are just extra insurance and not something 100% nessecary at all.

I like having the extra insurance and piece of mind. Went with a TSP ported LS6 pump when I had my MS3 installed.

I didn't change mine. I have 67K on it. My oil pressure is 55PSI cold. I don't believe in the "ported" oil pump hype.

I would do it. Never hurts to have fresh parts when adding power.

Depends, if it was a 00 and earlier, then it would be higher on my list to replace. I think the 01+ cars came with the LS6 pump and if thats the case, then I wouldnt mess with it unless your changing out the timing chain.

I wouldn't do a cam swap on a 97-00 LS1 without also swapping pumps, but on a lower mileage 01+ it's really not necessary.

Yes. Which means you shouldn't have to worry about it taking a crap on you.

I wouldn't do it, if you did you'd have to mess with the pickup tube, o-ring, etc. You already have a pump you know is good.

I did it with my cam swap. My oil pressure went up so I figure it was worth it.

Good Luck

Smooth out the casting flaws yourself and save the $$. Also a good rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 100 HP.

LS1 and "LS6" oil pumps are the same. If you've ever disassembled one you'd know this. The problem area is casting flash / other junk getting caught in the pressure relief valve. So disassembling and cleaning your stock pump is just as good (or better) than buying a new one. You can also add a small shim under the spring to bump the pressure if desired.
