Default Ls1 Cam change now Smoking ????

Just changed from a 570 lift to a 598/595 lift ... Now engine is smoking like a Tar kiln ??? How much lift can you go on stock valve seals ?? Had to remove baffle for Comp adjustable rockers,, I 've pulled PCV out and let run for approx,1hr still smocking,, it probably turned 6k on the try-out then was smokin,,,, didn't smoke till I carried it on the shake down??? Any Info !!!

Lift should have nothing to do with valve seals. I ran .588 lift on stock seals up to 6600 rpms and had no issues and i've seen higher. You sure you didn't puncture one when you replaced the rockers, even then it shouldn't smoke as bad as you are saying.

Any ticking in the valvetrain? I'd pull the valve covers and rockers and check the valve seals. It's simple and would eliminate a lot of guessing here. It could just be coincidence that something happened after this cam swap. Where is it smoking from? Could it just be that oil is leaking down onto the engine somewhere?

It's smoking out exhaust, has X pipe ,both sides,, I've pulled pcv valve out and let idle in shop to see if it would clear up,, still didn't,, WISH I hadn't pulled the Comp cam out now,, and left stock rocker arms on...

Pull the VC's and check the valve seals. That's the easy elimination at this point. If everything looks fine in the valvetrain you could have hurt something in the piston/ring area by spinning to 6k. Did you spin that high with or without tuning?

What valve tool did you use to change out the springs? I had a tool that I used that rotated so far that it was hitting the valve stems and leaving marks. I measured the marks and they were just high enough not to go through the seal. However, with more lift I probably would have had the marks go through the seal which would have ruined them.

Probably shouldn't matter with stock heads, but did you use thread sealer on your rocker arm bolts/studs? I've heard you can suck oil in through the rocker arm threads if the rocker bolt hole extends into the intake port.
