Default New or Used Cam and Springs

I see people buying and selling used cams and springs, and I was wondering if that is a good thing to put used parts in your motor.
I am building a 69 camaro and just want to put an ls6 intake, 224/224-114, 918 springs, with custom long tube headers.
Should I buy used cam and springs?
Thanks.

Used cams are fine.

Used springs though can be a little sketchy...try to find someone that has a good rep on here and you should not have any problems.

used cams are fine (people change their minds like they change their underware)
but I would NEVER buy used springs......Just my $0.02

btw the cam in my sig, as well as the heads were bought used (although I had new springs installed )

I have bought all my cams used. Here is a good rule of thumb:

Solid Roller... only by used if you are getting the entire valvetrain because the lifters and cam are pretty much mated together. I would probably buy it new so there is no headache.
Hydraulic: Used is perfectly fine because the lifter does not mate to the cam. However have it checked out just for impurities or any other displeasing marks or dings just for peace of mind.

I would at least get pics to confirm the cams condition before buying. As was said before on a hyd roller cam a little use before you is not a problem.
