Piston slap can be annoying.
The loose clearances that cause cold piston slap also protect the cylinder walls from being scored during high stress/demand applications, particularly under boost.
It is common to see a 150k LS1 motor with piston slap to have like new cylinder bores with cross-hatch still very visible.
That's all you need to know about piston slap.
next please...

What kind of oil are you running? My car has always had piston slap. Last year I decided to switch oils (went from M1 10w30 to M1 0w40) and my piston slap got really bad. Then my oil consumption went to hell. Switched back to 10w30 and the car went back to the way it was before. If you're running a 0w or a 5w...try going up to a 10w and see if it helps out.

I've been using 10w the whole time, so i know that's not going to help. i think i'm just going to do a piston swap. i can't live with this piston slap. i think it will pay off in the end anyway.
