Default 236/230 Tr CAM

Recently I finally got the cam card from the previous owner and he thought the cam that was in the car was the 230/224 TR cam. But it actually has the 236/230 TR Custom Cam. The specs on the cam card actually show 237/230.2, Valve Lift w/1.7 rockers Intake 0.599 Exhaust 0.575 LSA 112.00 Anyone have this cam in there car? If so are you n/a, FI, nitrous? I plan to go nitrous soon and wonder how it will react?

From also learning there is a bigger cam in the car it seems my car is down on power? #'s are in the sig I would think it should be much higher? I'm going to re-dyno it in the spring though.

it will be fine on nitrous....

any car can take a 150 shot no problem.... 250 is where it starts getting whiney.

Hey man,

I had run that cam for some time. I made 402rwhp with it on stock heads and bolt ons. With a 100 shot it laid down 510rwhp. Here is a graph for you to look at.

I would say the heads are holding you back a bit and a 90/90 intake. (assuming your motor is healthy)
That cam will do fine on Juice, but I wouldn't shoot more than 100 on your 98 block with stock rod bolts.

id say the 4:10 gears and 12 bolt may be why its dyno'ing a little lower. Seems like whenever people swap to a 12 bolt and 4:10s it eats up just a little bit of power.

Not stock rod bolts on the block. Everything has been re-done bearings, rings, pistons, rods, polished crank, bored, honed, etc etc. I was thinking of juicing a 200?

Bout to be ordering nitrous soon. So I should only shoot a 100 shot into it? I was thinking more on the lines of a 200 or so? But maybe I should be safe.

Nitrous needs modified tuning.
My advice is start small, monitor tune, go bigger, adjust tune and so on till you reach desired level.

Yah that was my plan also. I plan to just start with a 100 wet shot then progress up to see how my car likes it. But plan to stop at around a 200 if all goes well.

Just be careful of anything over 150 on a reverse split. Ideal nitrous cams are you usually traditional splits, which tend to run a bit more on the rich side. Tuning should help though.

Yah I'll definately be careful. I'm going to wait until spring to spray anything though due to the weather change here in Kentucky lately. It's been crazy here 20 one day 60 the next. But my car is tuned on HP Tuner's from the previous owner. Am I able to just get a flip chip ? One for nitrous one for N/A? or how does that work?

MSD Timing box. Once Nitrous is activated it retards the timing during activation.

What about getting one of those progressive controllers with timing built in? Does the Dynojet wideband comander have that built in? I know along with the JFO one and the Edge controller you get timing, window switch and some other features does the comander have that?
