lifter or rocker arm?
my car has a really mild knock at idle its almost un noticable but i notice it cause its my car im not sure if it has always done it because ive only had it three months. there is 89,000 on the car and i didnt start noticin it until i started it cold and drove it and its loud when its cold but when it gets warm it just clicks with engine rotation. like i said only i can notice other people say im crazy. but does anyone know why the ls1 sounds like *** when its cold?

These engines are somewhat loud by nature. Mine has made similar clicking, slapping, knocking since I've owned it. I've pretty much replaced all the valvetrain except the lifters wich I do need to replace. A lifter wil make more of a tapping sound and I doubt it would get quieter with temp.

We contemplated changing the name of this website to LS1TICK.com at one point
You can pull the valve covers and check the pushrods, LS1's are notorious pushrod benders, although it's not as common on automatic cars.
If the rockers/pushrods check out, I'd write it off as ls1 tick and be on my way. If you do have a bent pushrod, dont replace with hardened. The next time a valve will bend instead of the pushrod, which is 100x as bad. Go to the stealership and shell out 14 bux for another OEM one.
It may also be an exhaust leak.
