Default Oil path question.

Does anyone have a detailed diagram or explanation of the oiling path on a LS1? I'd like to know, step by step, the oil path after it leaves the oil pump.

this is a good topic and may answer my question to a post i just started about the lifter orientation relating to which way the port in the lifter needs to face?

Yeah, I got something to add. The stock oiling system sucks.

The reason I started this thread is that I have a brand new 348 I have installed that is not oiling the top of the engine. Both the front and rear oil galley plugs are in the engine and I have installed two different oil pumps in it. I can pull the filter or the diverter plate above the filter then spin the motor over and it pumps oil out there.. but no oil is getting to the lifters, cam, rockers.. etc. Any thoughts? Btw, the engine is showing "0" oil pressure on the gage.

I found the following description of oil flow, I'm going to paste it in below.

The driver side of the pump casting has a passage to feed pressurized oil through a galley in the block that runs to the back. Before getting to the back of the block, the oil travels down through the oil pan rail to the oil filter, then back up through the rear block cover to the lifter galleys and main bearing galley. From there, the oil follows the standard small-block Chevy split route of through the pushrods to the top of the engine and down to the cam, main, and rod bearings.

Where the oil pan gasket seals off from the pan into the oil galley in the block, there was a large broken place in the pan gasket, so all of the oil would get pumped from the pump, into the oil filter, then out of the filter.. thru that hole and back into the pan instead of going up the back of the block and into the lifter galley.
