Default starting an engine on a stand?

how do you go about doing it?? im gonna build an ls1 in my garage next year and want to fire it up b4 i put it in my truck, thanks

Sounds like you might need more than just 1 stand man. something to support the exhaust portion and the block. Are you gonna put the drivetrain on it as well?

I'm in the same boat. I'd like to start it up before mounting it all, but will probably not get around to doing it after all.

well, besides getting pressurized fuel to it, i would make damn sure that stand is bolted to the floor securely. The engine is gonna want to do the shimmy hardcore!

dont do this, this can only lead to disaster!! no offense, but if you have to ask, it's probably not a good idea for you to try.
