Default Couple Questions about iron 6.0 motor...

I just picked up a complete 6.0 motor from a van for $50. The motor has a spun bearing or something in the bottom end (I have to take it apart and find out exactly what). I'm planning on building it slowly on the side so that I can have a complete motor to swap in all at once. My ultimate goal is a supercharged stroker using that 6.0 as the base.

My first question is, do the iron blocks have sleeves like the aluminum blocks or can they just be bored out like a standard chevy small block?

Second, what would be the best size to build for my application? I want something that will be reliable, not something that's constantly running on the ragged edge. Would a 402, 408, 418, 427 be best? Any input would be great.

Lastly, is there a book that has the basics of rebuilding one of these LS motors? My friend has one about LT1's and it has come in handy many times. Do they make one for the LS motors? Things like torque specs etc would be a great help.

Like I said before, this will be a slow build that I'm doing on the side, but I'm trying to gather all my information before starting. I'm sure I'll have 1000 more questions before this project is done, lol.

Thanks a ton!

Stock it has a 4" bore, try to stay at 4.030 or so, some blocks can be taken to 4.06, but it's a crapshoot from what I hear.....
And just throw a nice 4" stroke in there.

Yeah, it looks like I'm going to go with the 408 setup. For a supercharged application where would the optimal compressions ratio be? 8.5:1 9.5:1 somewhere in between?

Also, do the cast iron LS blocks have sleeves? and do they need to be changed out for 4.030 bore?

Thanks

Yeah, mine has heads, coils, etc, but no intake. I have my stock LS6 though so it isn't a problem.

Will the 6.0 heads be better to have redone than my stockers?
