$2,300-3,000 is a good range....anymore than that and you might as well upgrade.

I have my engine out and am going to bring them the block w/o heads. For rebuild bore hone and forged pistons they quoted me 1900. I was told it was a good/reasonable price

If you are looking to save money and you feel comfortable and have a way to get the engine out, remove intake and exhaust, remove the front accessories, and take it to the shop you would save a significant amount on labor.

For a rebuild, your looking at new rings and bearings and machine work. Without the labor of install / uninstall less than $2000 would be a good price.

Labor is going to be about 1000 to pull the engine and re-install it. That's what I've seen at least.
