Default Thoughts on Bosch Platinum Plugs

Hello everyone. I just purchased a set of Bosch Platinum plugs with the double electrode prongs on it. The guy at Kragen told me they are better for containing spark within that area than the Autolite double platinums with the single prong I was looking at. Any experience with these? They are the ones that do not need to be gapped as they are pre-gapped from the factory. Btw, any install tips for the very back passenger side plug would be helpful! Thanks

I've always had horrible results with Bosch plugs. I've heard the same from multiple others. Stock delco's or NGK's are the only thing going in mine.

I don't like platinum plugs at all. I personnally haven't had good experiences with them. You definatley do not want to use them for a nitrous application, if you use or are thinking about getting some spray.

Good ole copper core is the way to go, I have had good experience with the NGK TR6 in LS1 applications.

Always amazes me when people ask for opinions on parts after they have bought them. Do the research then buy your parts. If the mods in your sig are your only mods, they will probably work as good as the stock platinums you pull out. BTW what is !MAF?

Platinum plugs are great at causing detonation. They stay hot and love to pre-ignite the mixture. I personally wouldn't run platinum plugs in my lawnmower...but have used them to make sure it had spark.

Spark plugs are like oil, just use the regular kind and make sure they're clean.

Passenger side plugs, there's no better way.

NO platinum I use the NKG's and change them every 6K to 8K..they only cost $1.68 a piece and they tell you whats going on inside your engine when you read them..

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to return the bosch plugs in exchange for some NGK's. What is the difference between the TR5 or 55? Got to get started on that #8 plug tomorrow!

^ good idea, i have heard very few positive comments about Bosch sparkplugs. i took mine out in favor of NGKs.

i disagree with Quickin, i, personally, want to keep a close watch on the things that i put in my motor, there is no reason to cut corners to save $2 when the lively hood of my motor is at stake.

Amen

Total waste of $$$ I had them in for a few weeks out they came for NGKs.
Ran better with NGKs or stockers and yes it was big enough change I could feel it.

How funny and odd the comments are here. I have the Bosch Platinum +4 plugs in all 3 of our vehicles and they are terrific. And I have run my timing in my 30th all the way to 29.5* and never had any KR - not to mention no ping in the other vehicles which includes my F150 which has pulled a trailer a couple times also with no pinging. I have never had any issues with these plugs whatsoever - nothing but positive things to say about them.

If you look at - and can understand - the engineering behind the Bosch Platinum +4 plug - you can understand that it just may be the best performing plug available for NA and non- nitrous engines.

OK, you keep on running them in all 3 of your cars. Doesn't change the fact that you don't understand the "engineering". I did a write up on these awhile back that I'll have to dig out of the archives. Simply put though, they are JUNK

I put a set in my truck and it had less than 100 miles when my computer threw a code(#6 plug was not firing).I took them out and replaced with stock ac's.I have had them in 4 other vehicles and was never really impressed with them, especially for the price...

My dad owns a relatively small auto repair shop. The amount of customers we get coming in with cars that are running rough only to find out they are running the Bosch plugs is unreal. Change the plugs and they are happy as can be. Its getting to the point where we ask people when they call about cars running rough if they have Bosch plugs in it.
