Default How to measure milled heads

I want to know what and how to measure if my heads were milled. I was told they were milled .030 and I want to make sure. What are the stock measurements on a set of LS6 heads and can I use a digital caliper to measure?

I don't know if you can measure the head thickness to find that out. You could use a buerette and measure the combustion chamber volume. I believe it's ~.006" mill for every cc less than stock. I know the stock 853 heads were ~66.67cc's and I think the stock 243's are ~64cc's. I'm wondering if you could measure valve height from a flat edge across the bottom of the head, but I don't know what the dimension is.

you will need to CC the chambers and if they were shaved .030" you will loss 5cc so if they were 64cc thay will now be 59cc

What I'm going to do is put the valves in place and fill the combustion chamber w/ water. 1 cubic centimeter = 1 milliliter

I'm curious what my little "touch up's" did to the to volume.

That's the correct way to measure...right? Is there a better more accurate way?
