What headgaskets?
Just got a set of patriot ls6 style heads, and going on a 2000 Camaro. Do I just go to the dealer or what? I'm sure there have been a ton of posts on this, but since the search doesn't work right, help. Don't think I need cometic or anything like that. Just want a good set, and the right ones. Thanks for any help.

I only see one set listed on the Tsp website. Are these going to be the correct ones? I thought they were different for different year models. Also I have read about stock graphite gaskets. Did gm redesign the ls1 gaskets or switch to mls a certain year?

There are formulas on here to use to determine your desired SCR and Quench. Choose your headgasket around these area's. There's power to be had by getting these area's right.

I'm really not looking for all that. I just wanted to see what people are using, and find out which ones are the right ones for my '00. I see everyone likes the mls. Sounds good to me. What I need to know is, are there different part numbers for mls or are they all the same? From what I can figure, gm changed to the mls for 02-03 correct?
I have read the info from Scoggin Dickey, but it's not right. It talks about a recess in the head below #3 and #6 cylinders on 97-98 853 castings, and says 99-03 ls1's use 241 castings that don't have this recess. My '00 has 853 castings. This is not really going to matter though because I'm using the Patriot heads. I guess all the blocks are the same? As long the Patriot heads don't have the recess, then I can use the mls right?

When I talked to Thunder Racing they told me that the MLS gaskets are great (definately easier to clean than the earlier ones) but that they require a "perfect" surface to seal properly, so I went with the old-style graphite ones. Could be BS, but a little cleaning in the future didn't scare me and after seeing how the old-style ones came off there is no doubt in my mind that they sealed very well.

I appreciate all the info. I'm not really debating what style gaskets to get though. I just want to know what will fit my application. What are the differences between year models, and cylinder head types. I haven't found anyone to explain to me what fits what, I get a lot personal preferences, which I appreciate, but I need to know what fits what. Does one mls gasket fit all blocks? Most heads? What is compatible? What is not? Part #'s?

We can supply you a set of them GM MLS .055" 6.0 gaskets. These are what we send out with our heads. Did you buy these used? If not, the gaskets should have been with the heads.

I bought them used. I'm sure I could call a sponsor and get what I need, but I would like to learn something in the process. Usually this site is a wealth of information, but with the search not working right, and people getting tired of the same old questions, no one wants to be bothered. Just throw out a part number or opinion on what to use or who to buy from.
