Default 224 vs cheatr?

for a daily driver? i just need some more bang. im tired of being the guy in the middle no one wants to run. thunder says that they can get almost 400 rwhp with the 224 and full bolt ons which i have. will the cheatr be able to give me similar or more performance? like i said daily driver and i would like to keep it civil. a/c is always on and does get caught in traffic on occasion. only thing with the cheatr is with that much lift is going to be killing my springs every 10k miles? car only has 13 on it but will be getting alot more.

Do you have headers? The cheatr is made for stock manifolds for the most part.

I say get the 224 on a 114LSA unless u really dont want ANY lope.

The CheaTR works great with headers or stock manifolds. It's going to be much more docile than the 224 cam (because of reduced overlap). As long as you have good springs (preferably duals like Patriot/PRC duals), and shim them to within .050 of coil bind, you'll be good for 30k miles, at least.

has anybody used the cheaTR with a blower yet? I'd imagine it would be great one cam because it has short duration, high lift, and wide lsa.

No side effects at all. CheaTR is great with headers.

Patrick,
Are the shims necessary with duals? I have Patriot Golds in some ported heads that I'm getting ready to install along with the Cheatr cam. I remember talk of needing to shim 918s for this cam, but I hadn't heard of needing them with duals. Can you verify this? Thanks.

Sorry for the hijack.

Shimming the dual springs (or any spring for that matter) eliminates spring surge (nasty oscillation) and will extend spring life and rpm potential. You don't necessarily need to do it for proper spring pressure as much as you do for spring control and longer life.

Thats what I'm hoping...
I won't mind my daily driver sounding just like a bolt-on car once i get my cheatr cam and bigger stall put in... hopefully I'll be able to sneak up on a few people

not really as both these cams do slightly diff things.

will there be more power on the table with either of these cams? id like to get the most bang i can and retain driveability.
