Default Proven cam and head combo

I don't know about anyone else but I am getting tired of reading flow #s and who's cam is better. Please anyone, list in their opinion the best proven cam, head combination for the best reliable performance in the 425- 475rwhp range.

AFRs get my vote also... but you have not defined the use of the car, mostly strip or mostly street...???

ALSO: 59cc chambers with that cam has a DCR of 8.7 You are on the edge of 93 octane gas. No huge deal, but you will have to watch for knock in the summer. I got these numbers assuming your pistons are .007 out of the hole and you are using the factory composite head gasket for a 99. It will be worse if you go thinner on the head gasket...

.045 Cometic head gasket = 8.9
.040 Cometic head gasket = 9.0

How about this combo...
AFR205s milled to 62cc (.024 mill)
.045 Cometic head gaskets
224/228 AFR cam, 114+1 lsa

This will give you:
Static 11.2
DCR 8.56
Quench .037 - .038 (assuming pistons are .007 out of the hole)
AND better P to V clearence compared to heads milled down to 59cc, for all those missed shifts... I have installed a set with 59cc chambers and .045 Cometics but we had to fly-cut the pistons,

I am swapping in a 226/230 112lsa+1 (XE-R) this weekend and will post a dyno soon after...

Call Eastside, they can set you up with a package that will meet your goals no problem... and drive like stock. Cam that's in my car made 403 rwhp with stock heads, thru a 12 bolt and steel driveshaft.... with the ls6 heads I have added in, I'm expecting well into the 430's, but if afr's are you preferance, they can do those as well. just waiting for all the snow to melt, and back in for a dyno pull I'll be

Yea, the AFR's are the only proven combo. All other head makers simply do not post results of their dyno testing and much less list instructions on how to achieve good power numbers. Tony Mamo has been very helpful to all of use LSX guys. He gets an A+ Thanks!

I detect slight sarcasim LOL. I personally didn't go with AFR's.. i went with a set of ls6, used to boot, and I could have almost paid for a new set of AFR's for what I paid for them, but I knew the guy, knew the heads and knew they would work for my application

If I ecide to go big, I'll have to get something else, but it's a ways down the road, so by the time I'm ready, I'm sure there will be tons of new stuff out and well tested by then.

For a relatively inexpensive H/C combo, TEA/FMS gets my vote. Couldn't be happier w/my cheap heads/baby cam setup..... 458rwhp/428rwtq through a 12 bolt/4.56's/ 28" slicks on a full bet/exhaust all day everyday.

I'm guessing that's a 480 rwhp setup through a 10 bolt/342's on the internet

Six months ago dyno'd 457/424 in the heat. Yesterday dyno'd 458/428 on a real safe tune. Perty damn consistent for a three year old combo....

AFR is what I have. Running a LG set-up with AFR Heads milled to 61cc and a G5X-2 at 112 LSA. My Z06 dyoned at 450 RWHP and 402 RW Torque (SAE) on a 92 degree, humid day last summer.

Thunder Racing TRak cam - AFR 205cc heads or PRC Stage 2.5 5.3's

I have the cam, and am still deciding on the heads. With a FAST90, this combo has put down 490rwhp in a 346.
