Oil Consumption
I'm having a REALLY bad oil consumption problem. I read in another thread that you can eliminate the pcv system by using breathers on the driver and pass side valve covers, can you really do that? Is switching to the LS6 PCV a better idea? Also, what oils do you see more oil consumption with?

How many miles do you have on the engine? Does it smoke at all? Is your TB or intake show any oil? I have a catch can that takes care of any PVC problems. I do not know anyone that have breathers on both value covers.
You first need to find out where your oil is going. I use Castrol 0w30 and do not see any oil problems.

If anything, just get the truck PCV valve from the dealer. It has no ball in the middle and a small hole. My car never was much of an oil burner before, but this little mod/change lowered oil consumption to 1/2 qt every 3k miles. It was the first thing I did to my car. This is also with alot of higher rpm 4th gear driving because 5th gear is shot and 6th is almost there. GM also just released an oil cap with a valve on it to release any excess pressure. I'm going to get this and see what it does.
