It will feel like you are taking off in 2nd gear for the most part. You will want taller gears ASAP, but it wont be too big a drag if you dont mind launching from stop signs.

BTW: I am stick geared as well. I feel the hurt.

I've thought about this cam as well. How would it drive on the street with 3.73's on a manual?

I have a similar sized cam in a M6 with 3.73s...drives great with a good tune. Definetly feels like it wants a little more gear tho.

I have everything but the cam right now. I guess TSP had a pretty good back order on the MS3. Jason said it should be in this week though and I'll post up as soon as possible. I know people are waiting to see what these heads can do

ok so no matter what i cant rush getting the cam either... i was thinking if this cam is too much cam for me then ill prolly go with the torquer 2... at minimal the 231/237 i think is the other one. i guess i still need to post in the nitrous section to see which is better for the juice...

MS3 will rock the house on the spray as well as the Tq'r v.2 and the 231/237.
I would spray the MS3. No questions asked.

that's what I plan on doing. I am going to do N/A for about 3 months, then it will be time for the direct port 200 shot!

I'm running the MS3 and for the past few months was using 3.42s in my M6 car... definitely needs more gear. Leaving from stop lights is stressful on the drivetrain, clutch, etc.

I won't drive it again until I've got the 9" with 4.11s...

I have a 12 bolt with 410 gears, and it drives great. I can even run along in 6th gear at about 1100-1200 rpms around town, which is between 40 and 45 mph. I would go ahead and put in a 9" or 12 bolt before you put the cam in. TSP recomends 410 gears with this cam.

I have the MS3 and 3.42s, but I am an automatic. It drives fine. I will be stepping up in gears to get the most out of it though.

Gears are not very important to autos. What you need is a properly matched high stall speed converter. Your 3.42's should be fine...what stall speed are you running?

Original poster: You won't need steeper gears so long as it it tuned well, but you will be much happier after getting some 4.10's or so.

Even with 4.10's you should be fine on the highway. That super-overdrive 0.5:1 sixth gear makes a big difference.

The torquer, 233/239, Futral's F13, G5X2 and G5X3 plus many others would probably work pretty well. You will want a gear swap to get the most performance and smoothest driving characteristics out of just about any healthy cam.

I have a Fuddle 3800. I had a TCI 4000 and 4.10 gears when I had my old TSP 231/237. I sold all of that and I set my car up for n2o. The car has the 3800 and will have the 3.73s on 28" slicks.

Big cams beg for taller gears. My car felt just like what orangepeel said. It felt like I was taking off in 2nd gear.

Go 4.10's.
