Default Polished valve covers

Anyone ever try polishing the stock valve covers? Maybe even knocking all the coil bosses off and cleaning them up? Just wondering, with the STEEP price on aftermarket covers....

I've done mine, but you can't mill the lugs with out having to fill with a welder.
