Default Give me an Opinion!

With mods listed below, AND TT3000 stall, what is your opinion on the best cam for my 'lil engine? Current CR is 9.9:1.

This is my DD so it has to be reliable and streetable, and CA emissions legal

What do you think?
I have all my work done by Rick @ Synergy Motorsports, he suggests a 224/114.

114 LSA seems a little risky for CA smog

Will the TR 224 on a 114 work for this? I think that it is a smog legal cam...If so I would say yes! do it.

224 114 will pass emissions. I'm sure Rich will do a part throttle tune and have you pleased.

I'd say you could count on at least 350 hp.

So smog issues aside, and with really good tuning, where would the power band be? When would it come on and fall off?

Remember, this is in a 5.3L HO.

Also, will my transmission be able to keep from exploding with the increased power and rpm's?

Think this is a good combo with the TT3000 stall for a 5300lb 4x4?

am i crazy?

With that much weight, you might want a cam with more low end to midrange torque to get you off the line faster. TR's 220/220 112 cam might be a better choice. Same overlap as the 224/224 114 cam but the 220 cam will have a little more punch below 4000 rpm.

I was thinking of the 220/112 but with the 3000 stall Rick (Synergy Motorsports) is positive the 224 is more appropriate.

I guess we'll see soon enough!
