Edge of driveability
Hey guys I was just wondering what is the most radical cam that I could have in an ALL stock '02 Formula with an A4 and 3:23's and still have a reliable ride? This would be followed by appropriate exhaust and converter later but as of now I dont care to win any races I just want that rough idle. I know cam and heads should be last but thats not how its gonna work. I want to have the sound first.

well... first youd be suprised the sound a new cat back will give... but as far as the cams go there are alot of people that have huge cams and daily drive em...
IF it were me though the biggest i would go would be ~magic stick 3 or an f14

I fully intend on long tubes and true duals later but as of now, I just want the lope. I know that doesnt win races but thats what I want. Anyway, is the MS3 driveable with a stock converter? If so, what will be the longevity of the valve springs that go with it? I was also wondering if a G5X-3 is feasible.

Your going to want a higher stall with any Cam, otherwise you won't be taking full advantage of the powerband. For the most part, a stall alone will net you close to a 1/2 sec drop in the 1/4 mile.
After much thought, i've decided to go with a MS3 come spring, seems about the largest you can go in a DD. The only thing that conserns me is the spring change ever 10-12K miles...
