Default Different part numbers for same part?

I just spent the last hour looking through part numbers at gmpartsdirect.com . I need to order LS1 parts like coils, all seals, and all gaskets except head gaskets.

Why is it the part numbers for the same part are different when looking under say a 2000 Camaro and 2000 Corvette? They both ran the LS1 didn't they? The accompanying diagrams under both cars both show the same exact diagram, with the same number labels, just that the part number is different. Even the price of the part is the same.

I really want to get everything ordered but I need to figure this out first and make sure I'm ordering the right parts.

I don't have a car, just an engine. I just want standard LS1 stuff.

Sometimes they change part numbers because they are now getting the parts from a different outside vender or they have a better part now available IE LS1 oil pump was replaced by LS6 oil pump. Can't get the LS1 pump anymore.
