Default biggest cid using the stock block??

first i did a search and you guys know the search isnt working the way it should sooo...

my uncle wants to use the stock block and make a large stroker. i know you can make a 382 from just a stroker kit and some machine work but can you bore it out and use sleeves and go bigger than a 382?? are using sleeves a ok idea??

would you guys recommend this over buying a 402 or 408 assembled shortblock?

thanks

you can stroke to 396 i believe (not recomended), but to get a bigger bore, you have to resleeve. LS2 402 assembled shortblocks are not that expwnsive.

The stock bore with the 4.0" stroke crank is about as far as you want to go on a stock block (382-383). As for sleeving to go larger, It all depends on who installs them. If your sleeving and buying a crank, go with the 427" set-up.
