Default Block Questions ls1/ls6-ls4?

I found this block on ebay and I emailed the guy that has it. He says it can be bored to 3.905 and that the current bore 96.01mm, if I recall right. Q's are, will this work as a replacement block for an ls1? Would the front cover be the same or would the a/c compressor have to be relocated? I know nothing about these blocks (5.3L aluminum) and can't seem to find anything, the guy that has the auction isn't 100% clear about this either, so that's why I am asking you guys.

If these blocks can be bored to 3.908 or .010" over stock ls1 size, why buy an ls1/ls6 block? Is there something I am missing here?

the 5.3 aluminum blocks are cast with a thicker liner which can be bored to 3.905. i believe the switch came around 03. basically GM's using the same block and just boring them out to make the 5.7's or leaving them as cast for the 5.3's. all accessories and covers will bolt up to the 5.3 block.

Thanks alot jrp, I really couldn't find anything on it. Why don't people just buy these blocks instead of ls1/6 blocks? They are almost half the price. Plus, I guess you could start at a smaller bore and keep the block longer without requiring a resleeve. Instead of the first time going up to 3.905", you be able to work up to it.
