Default locktite and anti-seize, head/cam install

Ok, I'm a rookie doing a head/cam install and working on aluminum blocks.

Using the ls1howto instructions, I made me a list of bolts needing locktite:

cam retainer plate bolts
cam gear bolts
oil pickup tube bolt
lifter retainer bolts
rocker center bolts

The only anti-seize mentioned is on the spark plugs.

Do you know of any other bolts that need locktite or anti-seize when doing the head/cam install?

Also, Ive got new gm head bolts and a new gm crank pulley bolt. Is the locktite on them sufficent? I don't want to over do it because some of the old bolts were really hard to get out.

Thanks.

Just follow the instructions to the T and you'll be golden. Throw in some smart judgement at some points and you'll be even better off. Don't rush, take your time, do things right, and she'll be humming before you know it.

Best Regards,
Adrian

On a Side note, when I did my install, I followed all the other instructions as well...such as oil pump swap, heads swap, headers swap ect, because they have more detailed instructions in those areas as well and where to put locktite ect... Check them out and be as thorough as you can.

In my GM manual they say to use GM sealant (and they give the part number) on the exhaust manifold bolts which is the comprable of blue locktite. Havent figured that one out yet lol?
I think ill just go with the anti-seize.

OK, thanks for the info. I'm changing the oil pump and timing chain so I'll see what other docs are out there.

I'm using the stock header bolts on my headers. What do you think about the red locktite on them?

NO. They will stay tight without that.

Head bolts have sufficient locktite on them. Just a side note locktite and anti-seize are basically opposites. Locktite keeps bolts in while anti-seize makes it easier to get them out.
