failed smog with the TR224
failed smog with the TR224 cam...i have SLP LT's, carsound cats, and a flowmaster catback so what gives i thought the 224 was the cam to use if you want to pass smog in Cali, i do have the air, and egr removed could that be the problem.

Well, they can fail you for not having AIR/EGR hooked up without even starting your car. Or, they can fail you because of your actual exhaust emissions. Which one happend? Are you running a 112 or 114 LSA? Passing emissions with that cam is all in the tune. Did you tell your tuner that you wanted to pass?

its on a 114 and the good thing is that my car is not flagged because he did the test on the side but it failed because i had the air, and egr and the rear 02's removed with HP tuners, and because of the high emmisions from the sniffer.

I passed NY and Virginia with the TR224 on a 114.
Put your **** back on, and heat up those cats

i am in Cali now, so ya i have to deal with all the smog stuff, but this is my question, did i fail the sniffer because the air and egr was removed, or can a good tunner get it to pass with them off, LT's and high flow cats.

Post up your readings from the sniffer. It could be the air and egr, they are on there for a reason. It could be that your O2s went bad causing you to dump fuel in. It could be your cats are shot (and you'd need to figure out why).

well first of all you will fail visual if they know what they are looking for with the air and egr off. Air doesnt mean anything with the sniffer since its only working on start up, and they test the car after its warmed up. Also aftermarket cats wont pass in cali either, but you could prolly get away with them if you got a guy who doest really care. The 224/224 will pass, do you have it tuned?

Those are just technicalities. Some techs don't care and will smog as long as you pass the sniffer. Right now, what's important is what the readings are. Everything else is just guessing and poking at visuals.

well i found a guy who is cool and will overlook the LT's and stuff i removed under thge hood, but it has to pass the computer, and sniffer, so i guess what i have to do is get a goood smog tune, and have them also put back all the smog sensors working agine, then go from there.

Yah you can get around smog but, not if you remove the smog equpment....
You WILL need egr, air, and NO longtubes to pass CA emissions.
exhaust must be in STOCK configuration. (at least on the day you smog your car )
