Default Failed Insp: Sec Air Inj & Evap System.. not sure why???

Just failed inspection here in NJ. Have cam package on car, they did just the computer scan. I only recently did a retune on the computer.

The codes were Secondary Air Injection: Not REady, and Evaporation System: Not REady.

Not sure what this means. The guy mentioned those two systems may not be plugged in.

Ideas? I only have 45 days now before my registration and ins will be cancelled by this crappy state.

subscribing...I failed today for the same thing. Said secondary air monitor not ready...car has no codes. Is there a way to disable this in edit?

I may be totally off, but I think when those two systems are deleted by an edit tune, they list as "locked" or "not ready" on generic scan tools.

are they ls1 edit tuned cars? if so, i think on ls2, theres info on how to set them to read ready instead of reading not available or whatever, its to get around the obd2 scan.

i think you have to drive the car around for a whole bunch of miles before they show up ready, even with a tune, but i could be wrong

Just in case, how do I check these two things to make sure still plugged in after cam install?

Alot of people remove those to clean up the engine bay.
secondary air system is the air tubes that go into your headers. it comes from the air pump under the fuse block behiond the driversie headlight.
EVAP is that little line wraped along with the fuel line.

OK, well the tubing is definately there for sure. Just not sure about the wiring harness if there is any for them.

You have to drive the car alot of miles. Try to get at the normal operating temperature as long as you can, then take it to the it back to the test site.

I have this same problem right now. My air pump is off the car and I had a guy with an HP tuner turn the code to "not reported" but he must of not done everthing required to make the system show ready. I have a post on this same topic in PCM and Diagnostic section. I haven't had a chance to try the things people posted yet because I don't own a tuner but maybe it'll help you out.

i don't think you can make it show "ready" if its not actually plugged in.

No but you can delete it completly off the system by removing the readiness check for that system. <someone chime in if I'm way off...but that's what I hear> Also, I just passed without an EGR, Rear O2s, Smog Pump, Skip Shift etc etc here in IL.... (((Thanks to a little tuning from Ion)))
