Yep the crank and at least one rod will have to come out. What was the oil level like when this occurred? also how high do you spin the motor?

Stupid question, but what are the effects (engine behavior) of a spun bearing and what usually causes it?

High RPMs causing rod bolt stretch especially on the pre-01 Ls1. Another possible cause: an ls1 run about 1 to 2 quarts low on oil will also loose oil pressure sometimes at high rpms.

Think of it as an excuse for a 383.

The level was normal. Nothing out of the ordinary. 80+ psi?

So the engine was full of oil, I mean via the dipstick? Also how high do you rev the motor? 6800? 7k?

If full of oil you probably streched a rod bolt at high rpm.

6700 dosnt seem all that far a stretch even for an 00 with the weaker rod bolts. Did you beat the car like a rented mule every time you took it out?

that is funny. No I just never took it at high speeds ever 130+. I only ran it at the track a couple of times but I guess I over did it this time.

Loud knocking and extremely low pressure. I am guessing I spun a bearing since I am a newbie to this. What else could it be 777?

Sorry man it sounds to me like your diagnosis is correct. I agree that 6700 is not too high, I spun my 99 that high and got 114,000 miles out of the thing. Detonation as Fireball mentioned may have caused it, or maybe the engine was slightly loose from the general.
