Patriot 5.3 Owners...come in
How do you like the patriot stage 2 5.3 heads? I just sent them my cores yesterday and can't wait to get them back. There going on a 383 LS1, thats going in my truck.
Just wanted to know where the heads helped out in the power band on the ls1 and if there were any before after dynos? Thanks.

I've been running them since 04 with no problems. They gained the most power at upper rpms from 5000+ on my setup. Around 25rwhp gain over the stockers. For the money spent I feel as if I got what they were worth. Would I buy them again? Definately not as there are much better heads out there for not a whole lot more $$.
What made you decide on the 5.3's for a 383? Power potential lies in the heads and cam and I see the 5.3's limiting your setup compared to a head that flows more with smaller port volumes.

The 383 is kinda up in the air (again). I've already got everything to refresh the stock shortblock except a cam.
45rwhp is an awesome gain. I guess on a LS1 with a 220-224 cam, I'm looking at 25-35rwhp, right?
I remember seeing a thread a while back about aftermarket heads and torque in the 2000-3000 range. I remember that the patriot heads seemed to produce the most in that range.

I heard of a 422ci that runs a 5.3 head and runs like a screaming dog. All depends on the folw of the head. Some can get the heads to flow over 310@600 and that is good numbers. Yes there are some bigger heads that will produce more but a lot of individuals don't like the 5.3 heads. I have got mine ported to the max and are going on a 408 and will see what they will do.

I've always seen good things about them. The cam will be the last thing I buy for whatever motor. If I go 383, I'm gonna go with either a 226/230 or 230/232 on a 113 LSA. That should produce more top-end then say a 220/224 cammed LS1 w/ the pp heads? Do get me wrong I want more torque than I have right now with the cammed 5.3, but most of my races are from a roll and that's where I want to shine.
