Default 224 in LS1 Truck

I have a LS1 out of an 02 SS and am putting it in my 01 silverado. I bought a 224 cam with a 581 lift from texas speed and comp 918 springs and hardened pushrods, new berrings and gaskets and everything just waiting on the headers. Is there any information I need before putting it in or any recommendations? I already have a nelson tune also. thanks

what bearings did you get? you shouldnt need any bearings.

the install is pretty simple. you just have to be careful when taking the bolt out of the oil pump tube if you decide to swap out the timing chain...you'll also have to lower the oil pan to do this. i recommend taking the front cover off the pump and pulling the 2 gears out to make it easier.

other than that, the next tricky thing is holding the lifters up when you pull the cam. 1/4" pen magnets work well, otherwise you can use some 5/16" dowel rod and slide it into the 2 holes in the block next to the cam retainer plate...ive never done it that way so i dont really know how it works.

if you do a google or yahoo search, you can find writeup on doing cam swaps. it will be nearly the same as doing it on a fbody....atleast all the internal engine stuff will be the same.

If your asking for any advice, might check the A/C brackets - some relocate the A/C to the top right (passenger side). Then again - have also heard the frame can accompany the Camaro A/C. Check out www.ls1truck.com
