Anyone had 224/224-114 only & then do heads?
I have the tr 224/224-114 and put up ~365 rwhp cam only through the 12 bolt, and am now considering doing heads. Could I reach 400rwhp with adding heads?

I did not think that heads would make such a BIG difference, but that is great to hear. Anymore thoughts or opinions? BTW, doesn't my hp #'s seem low for my mods? I had the tuning done by Morgan Motorsports 2 years ago and some say that right there is my problem

yeah...numbers appear to be a little low...i put down 393/385 to the wheels cam only...stock 10bolt and M6 but you shouldnt see that big of a drop from a 12 bolt. goodluck.
btw...i do have that cam..224/224 on a 114lsa..581/.581

My old results and graph is posted here
I ended up with 407 393 with some more tuning an underdrive pulley and ported TB.
After a little milling, thinner head gasket and slightly bigger cam I got the #s in my sig

1. So, after I do the heads should I get it tuned again?
2. My cam should pass smog here in CA, but will the heads affect me passing smog?
3. Seems like most people are leaning me toward the Patriot heads, right?
Thanks!

99 sleeper: was that 394 rwhp through a 12 bolt rear? I also have a catted y-pipe because I don't need any trouble with the law here in CA. I think I'll add a underdrive pulley and tb with the heads, then for sure I hope I'll be over 400 rwhp.

I pulled 399rwhp/398rwtq with the TR224/114. Stock 241 heads and all bolt ons through the 10bolt. Did 116.5 in the 1/4m with my heavy 200lb *** driving and the car weighing at least 3500lbs.
I dont see why you shouldnt be able to get 400+ with a good set of heads, a good tune, even with a 12bolt.
Oh yeah.. that was with no cats on my car.
FWIW you already have LTs.. put cats on and hollow them out or get some stock cat shells and have them welded onto your Y. Youll get popped for the LTs either way but maybe not get nailed for the cats.

Avengeance: That's a good idea having cats that are hollow. I originally had the cats on to avoid law issues and even moreso for sound as people told me lt's/y-no cats with the Loudmouth sounded raspy. Might try your idea because if a cop actually gets down to look for cats he will at least see them.

Here is a dyno of my car with my old setup. ONLY change was TEA heads were added. I did this back in 2003. Mods were 224 cam, MAC headers, 3" true duals, 12bolt with 4.11's. Before is cam only after is with the heads. Both pulls were done within a day of each other. Also the bottom graph shows the 224 cam only compared with a 12 bolt and 10 bolt.
Hope this helps you some.

I recommend getting an ASP U/D crank pulley and a ported tb first. Then look into the PRC or Patriot ported 243 casting heads (zo6) going for under a grand. If money isnt an issue, spring for the AFR 205s.

Black 02ss: those numbers are quite impressive. I hadn't considered the tea head as everyone has been suggesting just about every other brand , but I will have to definitely look into them. Thanks for posting the graphs.
