Default Oil Pressure?

I just put an ls6 manifold on my 2000 T/A amd the oil pressure gauge jumps up past 80 and stays till i turn the car off and then it goes down to about 60 when the car turns off. I was wonding if i broke the oil pressure sensor when i was doing the swap or something.

Sounds like either you broke the sensor or forgot/knocked off the sensor wire.

I agree, I did the samething. If you turn your car to the on position (don't start the car) and the needle immediately goes past 80 then you have either a disconnected sensor wire or you broke the actual sensor, or it is just loose. I bought mine at Napa for about $32.00 (I think).

Its behind the intake mounted in the block. Its black about 3" high. You have to pull the intake to get to it.

You should either fix it or put a new oil pressure switch in somewhere. There's a couple of places to tap into.I dont think that not having a pressure gauge is a good idea!Oil pressure is one of the most important things to monitor.Just my .02 cents!

It is item #4 in this picture.

Not hard to get at and you don't need to remove the intake manifold.

This is the oil pressure sensor, not the oil level switch which is on the pan.

Its easier to fix the broken one and its the only way to keep your factory gauge, that I know of.With that said, you can tap an aftermarket oil pressure gauge into the oil divertor plate above the oil filter. Most guys I know just use the stock location to tap in a new gauge. But then you still need to remove the old.

I seen someone said to do it with the intake still on.Some people dont have that kind of patients to work back there like that. Its alot easier to just pull the intake.
