Default 241 castings and 6.0 springs

Hey guys, Im still having problems finding info about thses heads. I have a 2000 ws and buying a set of 241's. Does anyone know if these are beter than what I have? Also anyone know what the springs are rated for? Thanks

6.0 springs and 241 springs have the same part number...

You *may* gain 4-7 hp compared to the 853 castings. Once ported it's all a moot point. If you're going through the trouble to swap heads you should be doing ported ones. Why gain almost nothing when you can buy some used ported ones and gain 35+ hp... and do a cam too... another 40+ hp???

Like chriswtx said- the springs are the same. You can't use them with anything more aggressive than the stock cam.

853 castings, thats my stock ones??? Im not sure. I have sa 2000 ws6, but the 241's are supposed to be off a 2000 ss?

Yeah, look on the very front of the passenger side head and look for a 3 digit number just forward of the exhaust manifold.

The difference in power between the two castings came from the 241's being cast in a semi-permanent mold compared to a sand casting. The 241's have smoother ports, and are more symetrical. There is a *maybe* 4-7 hp gain.

Regardless of casting, why would you do a head swap to put on another set of un-ported heads that you won't feel a difference with?
