Default How many retorque ARP head studs?

I've got about 400 miles on the setup right now and have the valve covers off. Only issues is having to pull the headers back to get the lower bolts. I torqued them to 65 with ARP moly lube as per the instructions. Running ARP Studs, and copper sprayed cometics. How many of you have retorqued?

I spoke with ARP the other day, they told me 70 lb-ft and no re-tightening was necessary.

I wouldn't worry about it, but I asked them twice when I called because their numbers weren't the same as the instructions. I was actually calling for the smaller stud torque value, when I was told the 70 lb-ft for the larger. I gave them the application, I think the instructions are general. But just the same, if there are specific LS1 instructions, they should come with the kit.

I have a set on my car and i did them at like 65. I let them sit for a few hours and then retorqued them all. It has worked fine since.

I torqued mine prolly 15 times on the engine stand before it went in. Just don't want to unbolt the headers and get the bottom bolts in the car!

Torqued mine to 65 using the molly lube and haven't retorqued. I don't feel it's necessary. Does the factory have you come back so they can retorque the heads when you buy a new car?

no, the factory uses a $200,000+ machine to torque all of the head studs at the same time to a angle spec... its pretty neat to see, theres a video of it somewhere online..

I retorqued mine twice on the stand with an over night in between and then again once running after 2 heat cycles.

One thing about retorquing is that you need to back the nut/bolt off just a hair to break the friction then torque.

Had mine on for about 3k no retorque with cometics and milled heads and zero leaks. With my new setup I went with stock bolts though.
