Default Unique Situation.... head OR cam...

I have to remove my driver's side head to back out a sheared header bolt. Do you guys think the following is the best bang for the buck move?:

Precision Race Components LS6 cnc ported cylinder heads: Fully CNC ported LS6 LS1 based cylinder heads
NEW GM Cores
2.00 1.55 Valves
GM LS6/LS2 Valve Springs
+ All gaskets and bolts = $1000

Install and a predator dyno tune is around $700.

So in my situation, would this be considered a good deal/upgrade? Or should I have a cam installed and the header bolt removed while the cam install is taking place? Probably $700 for parts + install and tune + the added cost of removing the header bolt.

I believe I would be right around 400rwhp with either option. (currently an 01 Z with blackwing, kooks lts, and kooks hf cats)

What's the best way to go here?????

Thanks!

If your planing the cam later get the heads done now. Its alot easier doing a cam swap than the heads. Just remember you won't see full gains of the new heads without a larger cam. Also depending on the miles you might want to have new lifters put in at that time.

It's an 01 Z with 30,000 miles.

I will be doing one or the other. After this my car funds are going to racing schools and races.

I'm with Conan. The cam will be a cake walk and if you did the heads you'd already have the valvesprings taken care of. It would just be the cam. Without springs I did my 2nd cam in my Firehawk in about 6 hours from the time I walked up to the car till I started it. I already had the springs done from the previous cam swap. (I went from 224 to a 236)

Heads. Then cam. -Joshua

If you can wait the extra two months till you swap the cam for that dyno tune or see if they'll cut you a deal within 6 months. Don't pay to get it tuned twice.

We also have our 243 CNC ported castings with 2.00"/1.55" (non-sodium) valves, LS6 springs, oem head bolts, GM MLS gaskets, and shipping anywhere in the US for $945.00. These heads flow very well and come with their own flow sheet reflecting the flow for that particular set.
