Default Replacing rod and pistons while engine is in car??

Ok I might be crazy for asking this, so I only have 3500 miles on my car and I want to do forged rods and pistons. Can I replace them with stock bore 3.898 replacement forged pistons and better rods without pulling the motor. I'm going to have the heads off any way. I was thinking if I took out the stock rods and numbered them, a machine shop could set up the new rod and pistons to weigh the same so it would not throw off the balance.

I know it probably sounds stupid and I should just pull the motor, but why would it not work on such a low milage motor??

I would pull it. You will have to take the crank out to have it ballanced to the new rods and pistons. You should also hone the block alitte to make sure every thing is straight for the new rings.

Yes, need to pull the motor and hone for the rings to seat.

Why not just beat the **** out of the stock motor till she blows. That what the rest of us do

Yeah, I have a set of 6.0L heads to put on to lower the compression. I may just do that till it blows and then build a 382 or something...

You wanna do this with the engine in the car... you're kidding right???

Pull it, you'll thank us later. I see a big cluster f#ck in your future if you try it in the car.

Yeah, I've done it before on a Toyota MR2 turbo. Just did a light hone on the bores while it was in the car. It worked fine. Car went 60Kmiles after no problems before I sold it running 15psi of boost. I think I will just wait a while and do just heads for now and start putting a stroker together...
