Default Quick help please! ARP head stud length!

I'm trying to install a set of ARP head studs. THe smaller diameter ones look ok, but the large diameter ones look too long! I have four short ones that are about 5 inched long, and 16 long ones that are about 7 1/4" long. Is this right??? It looks like its going to stick out of the head way too much! Quick help is greatly appreciated!!

that is right... did you run the old bolts down in there to clean out the threads before you put the studs in? Also, they will stick up quite a bit, and the head will take up almost all of that. And the 4 shorter ones go in a specific place, so you should find where those go.

The threads are clean and the studs seated properly, but the rest of the stud seems to stick out way too much. I don't know what year the block is, but it's an aluminum LS1 block. I'll put a head on tomorrow and measure how much it sticks out, but the way it looks, the valve covers won't be able to fit on!!

Here are a few pictures of mine... if they look like that, then they are fine. I was scared about it too, but after I put the heads on, there was just enough room to get the nut and washer on, with a little bit to spare.

Thanks for the pics! Yeah, mine are definitely way too long. I think the four short ones I got are the right ones, but the other sixteen are not right. Oh well, just another delay!! Thanks for the help.

Is there a serial number on the block, sounds like the newer block that uses all the same length bolts.
