Default Who ported their manifold and t/b? (aftermarket)

I see many people doing this but always heard advice against it. I know that every little bit of air available is going to help with power, but is it noticeable enough to shave off peices of your parts for it.

Will a ported manifold withstand a forced induction application??
I heard porting a t/b damages vital sensors, is this true??

Please correct me if i'm wrong but you can't port a t/b where the blade is closed because a gap will be created. So isn't it pointless because the opening by the blade will still be the same size and only that much air will go in.
Wouldn't it be bad in a s/c application because the air has to fill a larger area before entering the manifold?? Some pressure loss?

Please post gains/losses from porting.

a ported manifold will be able to withstand boost. porting the tb does not damage any sensors...no porting is done near them & you should remove them before porting.

PSI is not what makes power in a forced induction setup, it comes from how much air is moved. PSI is just a byproduct of all the extra air being moved and waiting for a place to go. That's the reason why some guys buy a SC system with an "8 pound" pulley and only see 6 pounds of boost

Thanks for the input sick. So there's no downside, except resale value probably.

But what gains can one expect from porting. No biggie to take off manifold and t/b but would it be worth it?? Tune not neccessary, right?

Would it benefit a s/c application because a higher vol of air enters manifold?

So I heard 8rwhp gain with a ported t/b on a turbo app. Anybody else, all motor, sprayed, s/c, turbo, anyone????????

Haven't heard of weiland intake, but beleive most gains are accomplished with FAST(what i've got). It's 16 pounds lighter than stock and gains 15rwhp over Ls6 on non-modified engines. I'm not sure how much of the plastic polymer you can take off, but i would rather keep mine instead of getting a crappier one to port it.
If I wanted to go that route, I would have taken my Dremel tool to the stock one.

Definitely don't want high manifold temperatures, That's why i didn't get the chrome polished holley.

Looks nice, does it work.

I wouldn't mess with porting the intake. It is pretty price and not worth the gain. Use the boost to make the power. All of the aftermarket throttle bodies are already at a ported state. People port the stockers. Never heard of an aftermarket 90mm being ported out.

Yeah, a dremel tool and grinding bit will make the stocker a little better. But a 90mm can turn into a 95mm with proffessional work. Intake aside, porting the t/b on a boosted app. will increase hp by 5 -10 rwhp.

Anyone else see similar gains?? And how much should a machining shop charge you for porting a t/b??
