Default Bad Misfire (pics)

I was randomly driving around when my car started running extremely rough and would fall on its face if I would give it any gas. The car was shaking extremely bad, so I went strait home and checked the simple things.

I found an exhaust leak, and fixed it, and rearranged the y pipe to make sure there were no other leaks.

I pull the plugs, and all were really black, and reaked of fuel. Some worse than the others. I checked the resistance of all the wires, and one was bad (15k resistance, compared to .3 ohms on the rest) I figured I found my problem, so I changed the plugs and wires. (And fuel filter while at it). This didn't fix the problem. When in gear the car wanted to die, and wouldnt run worth crap.

Then while pulling it into the garage, there was a random tick (abnormally loud tick) coming from the car.

Give me some ideas of things I can check/what it could be.

This might sound really stupid, but are you running a lid? Sometimes, an over-oiled air filter will coat the MAF wires with oil, causing it to send bogus air-flow readings.

i kinda had the same random tick when i changed the plugs in my car. One of the plug wires wasnt clicked on all the way so it was arching out and making that ticking sound. What kinda plug wires did you put back on the car??

-SLP Lid with paper filter, so I dont have to worry about screwing up the MAF...

-I put the stock wires back on because I knew they worked (and checked their resistances and were all good). All clicked 2x on the top once on the bottom.

-Would the O2 sensors describe everything I have said though?

It sounds like you may have a busted valve spring. It only take an hour or so to pull the valve covers and check the springs. Check the push rods if the valve springs are not damaged.

busted valvespring, bent *** pushrods, bas 02 sensors. pop the valve covers and take a look, if they are good then check the 02's. You probablt arent rich, you probably just having a ignition issue.

Might be a wire from your PCM to a coil pack.

The cultprit was a broken valve spring, and rocker arm. Who knows why / how, but now maybe an excuse to get some heads. Maybe I'll post some pics later.

That sucks, but at least now you know what is going on with the motor. Are those double springs. Looks like that rocker lost it's needle bearings and fell apart. Good luck getting it all back together.

How much would it cost to just replace that rocker?

I don't know what the dealer charges. I may be able to get one from a buddy of mine middle of next week if you have the time. I only buy used for things like that as the dealer is way too expensive on most parts.

I'm just going to pick up a diff rocker and save the hassle. I feel like being lazy on this one.

HOw many of those needle bearings are you missing? You should have 66 (33 per side)total from each rocker arm.
