Ok cam guys, I'm looking for suggestions..
Ive been doing a lot of screwing around with my 69 (which is much easier to work on than my 02 I might ad) well, Im pretty content with its preformance so I started doing a few modifications to my 02 eventhough when I bought it I said I was going to leave bone stock, you know how that goes.
Well, I did most of the easy bolt ons and had 4.10's installed, where they recalibrated my spedo and removed the torque managment from my PCM. So I have a 2002 Z28, M6 with a Lid, Bellows, 85mm MAF, Kooks LT's w/ low restriction cats, B&B Triflo cat-back, LS6 clutch, BMR LCA's and 4.10's in my stock 10-bolt.
I would love to invest in a set of AFR 205 mongoose heads but the funds are a problem. What I do have is a brand new GM hot cam kit w/ springs which is 218/224 .525 I believe, without looking at it.
Now, I am thinking of installing it and getting the PCM tuned using my stock heads. I was looking at the engine earlier today trying to estimate how envolved it will be to swap cams, and if I am correct I will have to remove the radiatior, split the lines to the A/C condensor and remove that, remove the water pump, balancer, timing chain cover and valve covers, remove the rockers, remove the pushrods, spin the motor so the lifters rise and remove them (without removing the manifiold which is nice) remove the cam, remove the spark plugs, apply air pressure to the cylinders and remove locks and keepers and springs and then put everything back together, hope ot starts and go get it tuned...
Im am idealy looking for a mid-range cam as the car will not hook down low as it is and I do not drive that agressive I need a cam which makes power over 5,200 PRM. I'm looking for something with a noticable idle lope and nothing too agressive, basically a good drivability cam which premotes good mid range torque and has a decent but noticable idle all with using the stock engine and no other mods than the cam and springs.. for now anyway
My question is... It seems like a lot of work, if I am going to do it, is there a better cam than the hot cam for the charecteristics which I just described. If I waist an entire weekend making my knuckles bloody and my car does not feel any better or idles like crap I may be forced to get the 12 gauge out...
I had a previous posts on this forum about the Hot Cam and those of you who were kind enough to take the time to answer it seemed pleased with the Hot Cam in general, I just want to make the best choice now because I do not think I want to do the work twice.

when I'm at the track i shift at 5,200. Id like to make as much power as possible without comprimising drivability. It is not my daily driver but i dont want it ideling rough and smelling like its running rich.

Thats cool, I will try shifting a bit higher next time. My 69 is really a drag car my father built and passed on to me when he built a faster one for himself so I dont really have a need for beating on my 02, i just took it to the track once after the headders went on because I was curious, its best run was my last and it was a 13.31 @ 109 but my 60' was a 2.2 as it was tough getting any decent traction. I really dont plan on racing the car, i was just looking for a cam to wake up my stock engine, therefore, no I dont really bring it up to the rev limiter, so yeah I am looking for decent a mid range cam, and so far I have gotten some good feedback so thanks
