Default Stock Rocker has some play.....

I am currently looking at the drivers side rockers and they all have enough wiggle room to were they will tick except for one that appears to be holding the valve open. That one has no play at all. Is this normal or should there be no play in any of them. When I say "play" I mean that they can be rocked side to side but the rockers are firmly against the pushrods on one side and firmly against the valve stem on the other side. These are stock rockers on the rail.

I am having a low power problem and think that the blame can be put on the valvetrain. It is a brand new setup but it is not producing the power that it should be. I didn't check the pushrod length and instead just bought the ones that the company recommended that I use with this crate motor and their cam and heads package. I haven't had a chance to do a leak down test yet and it may be that the cam is not ground properly but I am trying to eliminate everything that could be my fault before I rip this thing back apart. HELP PLEASE!!!

I had 3 like that. The test is does it have play once you take it off and it's in your hand?

If so , I recommend Harland Sharp to rebuild them, $250.00.

harlandsharp.com, call and ask for Jeff.

I dont think side to side has anthing to do with lash. You should just be able to torque them 22 ft lbs, spin the motor a few times and retorque/check 22 ft lbs for stock rockers.

If you have excess play side to side where the actual bearings are like Viper said it could be the bearings getting ready to go or worn. But side to side on the valve stem doesnt affect lash.
