Default What heads and cam to be in the 450rwhp range?

My Z is my daily driver but would like to get some more power out of it, with the current setup (in sig) it put down 407rwhp, which is still really fun in the car but I would really like to be more in the neighborhood of 450rwhp. I was thinking just adding a 100 shot of nitrous but I think I rather just swap the heads and cam with something else.

Since the car is my daily I dont want anything too extreme, id like it to have some bottom end too so nothing like a trex, anyone have any ideas on what heads and cam to go with?

Would something like some dart 205 or 225 heads and a 228/228 588 588 112 cam get me there? of course with a good tune

Any ideas? BTW I would like to do this on a budget but still do it right, so good value items are awesome but i wouldnt want junk.

BTW I know there is more left in the car even with the current setup as the previous owner had the car tuned with a predator

what do your heads flow?
if i were you id swap the cam save the money on the head swap and put a 90 90 setup on instead. have the intake ported and get a real tune ont do HP tuners your self with a wideband o2. that should put you in the 450 range and on a ok budget. my .02 $

honestly I have no idea, i contacted andy from A&A and he said they will have higher compression then stock and they will outflow stock ls6 heads, so i just emailed him trying to see if i can get a better answer, like what they actually flow. So without knowing its hard to determine what cam I could/should go with. Thats why I almost want to swap out the heads so that I know exactly the specs of everything under my hood, but thats not THAT big of a deal to me, even less so if it saved me money..haha

plus i have no clue what kind of valve springs i have in there, etc...the engine of my car is like a mystery to me....i figure that i could probably sell my current cam and heads to get some money back....dart heads are like 1400 bucks a cam is about 400, not sure what else i would need as my car already has most of the bolt ons and supporting mods since it does already have h/c on it

Just go with the AFR 205/G5X3 package from LG. Even without their headers, you'll be up over 450rwhp in a streetable package.

IMO the G5X3 seems to push the limits of what some consider "daily driver"

but it would definatly get you what your looking for

i saw your vette there when i was getting my SS tuned, i think your the one who had Charlie mess with your tune but with off road pipes it was kind of hard for him. Didn't you say you do road courses? Anyways good luck on finding some more power.

Id be curious how good the heads you actually have are....My car made more power cam only with a 228/228 .588 .588 114LSA comp XER. With the PRC Ls6 budget heads/same cam I picked up to 432rwhp untuned through the stock ls6 intake. Im about to put it back on the dyno after tuning and Im expecting 440 to 450 still through the Ls6 intake! If you are on a budget you cant beat the TSP LS6 PRC heads.....

i think a lot of power on my car is lost in tuning, a predator isnt the best..

however I am slowly getting information on the heads, Andy just told me who did the work on the heads, and I went on their website and the heads I found that fit a vette are as follows:

5.3 LM7 Truck Casting (WCCH #2001) Stage 2 port program. Valve sizes 1.94 in., 1.57 ex. 63cc chamber. Flow ratings with a .600" lift: 305 cfm intake, 223 cfm exhaust. Fits bores up to 3.78".

5.3 LM7 Truck Casting (WCCH #2002) Stage 2 port program. Valve sizes 2.02 in., 1.57 ex. 66cc chamber. Flow ratings with a .600" lift: 305 cfm intake, 223 cfm exhaust. Fits bores up to 3.90".

what size is the stock bore?

Id have thought with a fast 90/90 and a good tune you would probably be pretty much there already?

The 90/90 is a wise investment.
