Default Few Questions on H/C Install

I just put in a f13 cam on a 114 lsa with Patriot 69cc Heads Stock MLS gaskets. Im using Harlan Sharp rockers and plan to buy rhoads lifters...

I have read that longer pushrods are better. Are 7.325'' rods the right length?

I have the F14 with Comp 850s and run stock 7.4s However, Predator-Z, i'm sure will chime in and have some good input. He seems to be the Guru for that stuff.

Ski

Look up his name, and i'm sure you'll find posts where he may have already answered your question.

7.425's are what you want in this case. The only real differences you will see is that it will have less valvetrain noise.

run a .040 cometic...it will make better quench, compression and power. And close the gap by .020, negating the need for the longer pushrod, especially if you are using an aftermarket 7.4..which are usually in the 7.415 range.

But I am not sure if this would mess up your clearance etc...so you would have to check that out.

Selling your mls gaskets and getting some cometics would be about the same price as getting some new pushrods (if you already have aftermarket 7.4's)...and in turn give you some more power, better quench, etc....if your combo will work with it of coarse.

You have to find the difference in the base circle of you new cam compared to your old one and divide it by 2. This will tell you how much longer you need to go...assuming an unmilled head and stock gaskets.

I mean why did you choose a chamber that's gonna give you low compression?

Another reason you should really look into the cometic .040. Your compression will be less than 10 to 1 with those 69cc heads and stock gaskets.

oh... Im getting ready to order a turbo. Already had the cam so i decided since its going to be about 4 months before the turbo actually gets shipped to me that I should just order some better flowing heads and put my cam in for a while. I know the f13 isnt good for a turbo but I already had it. Didnt want to buy high compression heads for a few months and waste the money...

Plan to buy a block as soon as I can and then ill just swap the heads over to it and go with a smaller cam... maybe a z06 cam..

I figured that you were going for the FI setup with that CC size.

That's what I was wondering. Compression isn't that great now. They'd be good for a turbo setup though

Any pics you'd be willing to show us?

Yeah I figured that I would lose power with the h/c nitrous setup that ill be running for the next few months but couldnt stand not to try it out.

Bo is actually finishing them up for me now. They should look great. I had talked to him about polishing my 59cc heads before I decided to go turbo, so he decided to do these for me before he quit..

Ill post pics as soon as they get here.

The best part about all this modding is seeing what different combinations will do. I'd do the same; put the 69cc's on and use them while you got em'
