Default Cam Intsall 01 LS1

Hey guys im gettin ready to install my tr230 cam tihs weekend. I need to know what gaskets i will need to replace.
I got these from LS1Howto.com
- 2 AIR tube gaskets (2x GMPN 12553617)
- 2 Water pump gaskets (optional on 99+ ls1's, required on '98 ls1's with stock gaskets)(2x GMPN 12559271)
- 1 front engine seal (1x GMPN 12561244)
Sound about right?
Also do i really need a longer crankshaft pulley bolt, M16 x 2.0 pitch x 120mm long? If so where can I pick one up?
Thanks alot,
Ryan

You need the camshaft gasket kit available from GM SDPC has it under gaskets!

You absolutely need a longer crankshaft pully bolt. Don't reuse your old crankshaft bolt either. You'll need do some shopping around for the bolt. I got mine at a local mom and pop kinda place. Try Home Depot and Lowes first though.

I was able to reuse my air and egr gaskets. I didn't get the waterpump gaskets and I've been fine for 5K+ miles. My engine had about 20k on the clock too though. What I did get was the timing cover and valve cover gaskets. Call up thunder Racing, they'll set u straight for gaskets.

I'm assuming you have everything else you'll need like a LS1 specific spring compressor, dowel rods to hold up the lifters, and an air compressor or a bunch of pen magnets to hold up the valves. I have the Moore spring compressor tool and it worked great btw.

Just buy a cam install kit from one of the sponsors. SDPC has a good kit as does TSP.

oh and USE THE WOODEN DOWEL METHOD. NOT THE PEN MAGNETS!!!!

I just installed my tr230 this past weekend.

First off, use the right up at www.ls1howto.com

Buy the Thunder Racing cam install kit, part number 111-10-LS
Link to page here

You WILL need the longer bolt. I searched Home Depot and Sears Hardware and had no luck. Fortunately my tuner had the bolt and let me borrow it. THIS IS A MUST!

I fabed up my own metal dowel rods. They work great.

Also get the "Tims Tool" for the valvespring compressor. Very nice guy and great tool, especially when you get to the back valvesprings. Here is his screename 2001 SOM WS6 69 GTO
Tim tool thread

Take your time and double check everything when putting back together. The excitement of wanting to hear it fire up can wait, trust me....lol.
