Default Victor Jr. Intake & Big Cubes

I have used the search and have found conflicting reports. Is the Victor Jr. intake a good option for a 400+ cube all out drag race motor? I have a set of hand ported LS6 heads. I will be port matching the heads to the intake. Seems that the short runners of the Victor would be a better choice for a high revving race motor. Any opinions?

Well, I have heard that it needs alot of port work to flow well. I just want to make sure before I purchase one.

How much stall you want to run? That's the key to if you use one or not.

Well, I'm thinking 3800-4000 maybe higher, I plan on spraying 200-300 direct port shot with this intake. This motor is going in a 67 pro-street Firebird that I'm starting to build so I'm going to use 4150 stye Accufab throttlebody. At this point I'm just gathering ideas as to the setup I'm going to run.

If you do a search, there is a link showing some pics of the vic jr being slightly offset from the head ports requiring them to be ported. I don't know if this is typical or not though.

383ss, did you gain anything on the dyno or the track over your 90/90 setup, all else being equal?

It could but not worth all the time it would take. Too much grinding and porting to make it cost feasible. Better off waiting on what comes out from gm or the after market.

I`m thinking about going to a victor. But I just got the car running with the new motor. I might wait till next year. I`m sure a sweet flowing intake will be out by then. I pray so!!

7rwhp on the dyno, BUT I had lost a little compression in a few cylinders, mostly #7 due to a burnt piston though, so considering that I wasn't too upset. track has not shown any gain yet.

maybe porting will bring out some HP. I may look into that.

At least you gained some. Must be true, the bigger CI works better with the Vic Jr as I lost a fair amount with my 347" and Vic Jr. It would be interesting for you to get yours ported now to see how beneficial it would be, I bet you pick up some more HP/TQ. Did yours pull harder on top?

Somewhere in the following thread it states that the Victor only flows like 275cfm on a 310cfm head. Looks like porting it is a must if you want to see sizable gains.

Who is porting your heads? That might be the place to start for the intake porting.

I would start at 4000rpm stall if I was doing this intake, and the more the better really.
