Default Difference in 114 lsa and 110 + 4* ????

As you can probably tell from the title I'm not a cam guru and was curious what the differences are, what the effect and how the cams would react if all other #'s were the same?

Thanks, Jutty

Do you mean the difference between a 114 and a 114 +4, if so the difference is that the ICL on the 114 is simply 114 as it has no advance ground in but the 114 +4 has an ICL of 110 with the 4 degrees of advance ground in. The difference between a 114 and a 110 +4 is that the 110 +4 is on a 106 ICL. Typically, the lower the ICL, the lopier the cam, and the harder it is to fill the cylinders with air at idle and lower rpm's. The lower LSA cam will generally peak later and higher in the RPM band but lose some area under the curve down low.

Remember 110 lsa + 4* does not equal 114 lsa (if that's what you're thinking).

I knew that 110 + 4* didn't = 114, but I was trying to understand the differences when it came to putting them in and setting the degree on them.

A 114 LSA meas the center lines of the lobes are 114* apart. 110 + 4 would mean that they are 110* apart but both are advanced 4*.
