Default Help Guys, What block

I am about to spend some loot on a Ls Conversion tomorrow for my PT 69 camaro
My plans are to builkd it to 427 cid and twin turbo it and shoot for 1300 hp +
I need to know whats the best block to use, Hmm let me rephrase that
Can I use an older 98 aluminum block and darton sleeve it?
Should I just use an Iron 6.0 block?
I want to go buy a Dropout and I am wondering whats the best to do?
I want to spend wisely.

I'd give the guys at W2W a call... And explain to them what your trying to do... They will steer you in the right direction. Besides buying a w2w motor is a darn good investment to make for your car. Kurt knows 427s

I think I can save a ton of money usung my friends machine shop and his discounts on lunati and other parts and doin the labor myself

I would not recommend an aftermarket sleeved block for that kind of turbo power. We do not usually build sleeved engines (exception being when they are sleeved by GM). We like to build engines that hold up over time and do not like to accept the risk of "sleeve issues".

If you are looking to make a certain number, that number can be made with 346cid. Your best bet would be a GM 6.0L iron block stroked to 408. You can make 1300hp all day long with the correct combination of parts. Give us a call.

This will give you an idea of what parts we put into this type of engine. This is with an LS2 6.0L block which is about 85 pounds lighter than the iron version: http://www.w2wpowertrain.com/pc-99-8...ong-block.aspx

i see no problem with an MID darton. unlike a sleeve it creates a new locking Deck.
BUT W2W has wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more dyno time then i could dream to have

I was not planing on using a Warhawk
I see no reason to pay 4 k for a block that needs 2 k more in machine work for a suposed ready to use piece

I am thinking of using a 98 or whatever alum block and having it darton sleeved
Hope i get some better info b4 the morning or Im comin home with whateveer and hate myself later =)
I just need to get the thing in and running while i collect other parts
I guess it all boils down to what should I look for so I can use some of it =)
I deffinatly need all the accys Id like to at least have the block get used as well
I know the intake heads rotating assy and trans will all get replaced

I would stay away from a sleeve and just go with an Iron 6.0L Block... safer and less chance for mistakes.

are there any reports of an MID failing? if so what kind of failures have occured?
