Exclamation 427ci Shortblock is Finally Done! {56k... Grab a Snickers}

Well I finally finished putting the shortblock together today. Here are a few random pics below. There are MANY more in the link below, but they aren't as big. The shortblock will sit for a month or so as I get some top end parts. I also need to get the old 346 out and strip it down for parts. That won't happen until mid/late August though.

Looks great so far.... did you clean up the piston tops to remove any ridges/sharp edges? The tops look like mirrors!

Yeah... haha. They must have done it a long time ago before all of the complaints.

They came completely machined/deburred from Diamond. The surface on the top of the piston was very smooth to my suprise, so I took some polishing compound to them and made them shiny, even though they won't look like that for more than a minute or so in a running engine. Hopefully being polished will reduce the amount of carbon deposits on the top of the pistons.

LS1 block ?
Yes, it's an LS1 block. Not sure what year. It's "used" but it VERY clean like new.

What wristpins you using in there Mike?
They came from Diamond and were custom made for the inboard pin bosses. They are beefy suckers, forged 4340, .927" I believe. I can't find my weight sheet but they were thick walled, maybe 1/4"
